Separating Solids February 10, 2009

Mrs. Kershasky told us we had to separate the "soup mixture" into five different containers. We knew this task was a challenge, but we did it! We started picking out each small solid with our little first grade hands, and asked if there was an easier way. Mrs. Kershasky then introduced the screens. We used three different sized screens to separate all of the small solids. In the end, we found out that we had to use our hands for the bigger lima and pinto beans, but used the screens for the rice, cornmeal, and mung beans.
